  • evanwilson100:

i always use a steel leader when im fishing for gar, not a big one just something to keep the line off the teeth

  • texasfishin:

ok thanks for the tip, unfortunately both that rod and reel are broken now :(

  • texasfishin:

thanks, i also dont think i waited long enough

  • CRFmxracer:

try reeling in till you have like no slack between u and the fish and set the hook normally then reel in all the slack and do a medium hard hook set. you lost them by settting the hook to0 much. i like that baitcaster rod witht he spinnning reel lol

  • KLBCarp93:

You strike way to hard-could lead to losing fish. But besides that nice fish.

  • texasfishin:

slow moving rivers or creeks, any large sized cut/live bait will work fine

  • fishingtrashcan:

Gibbins Creeks inbetween huntsville and college station tx has monsters. Try this. on the 2 foot leader zip tie a nylon rop all untreaded with a big circle cut hook at the end. Cast it out there and jig it on the top and reel fast (bait fishs skooling noise/ Fish boiling. they will hit it. Yellow rope looks the best and pretends to be the lure. the roge also gets stuck in there mouths if the hook doesnt set. Try it. Lake gibbins Texas Best Gar fishing

  • afro76dude67:

    thanks man

  • texasfishin:

dead palm sized bluegill, put them on whole but make a few cuts in him to get the blood flowin

  • afro76dude67:

what u guys use for bait???

  • texasfishin:

we went to the trinity and every time a fish picks up your bait it gets it tangled in the trinity’s countless amount of snags
