  • co1binat3r:

Im pretty sure thats a male

  • BassAnglerMike33:

@j0j0barz33 chances are if that was a bed, it was most likely a male. just an over sized male lol. the females right now are just looking for an easy meal and the males are protecting the nest. may be different but chances are thats a big fat male

  • Fishnwithjoe:

    @colbybassmaster nicefish though jon

  • colbybassmaster:

@j0j0barz33 she wouldnt have guarded the bed bro its probubyl a big male fro illinois still a great fish but females dont guard beds until the spawn hits then they do theyre business and still arent as commited but once the spawn hits the male will nudge the female away from the bait and move it not eat it until you convince one that its neccisary this is why a 2 person bed fishing plan is good get one angler to get the male to move the bait pitch on the female and normally done deal from there

  • j0j0barz33:

@nickthoj its different in different places, usually here you’ll catch TONS of small males all over the place not in a specific place. Sometimes you’ll see males and females together but im guessing she wasn’t at the point yet

  • nickthoj:

@j0j0barz33 ??????????? it must be different in your part of the country or you got it all wrong because usually the males get the nest ready and then the females pair up with the males …you might’ve caught a male then bro

  • flurbsmcgurgs:

y dont u leave the bass out of the water for a few minutes and alter its spawning habits. :)

  • j0j0barz33:

@nickthoj This female didnt have any males around her yet, the water temp was still a little cold so she was more concerned about getting her nest ready

  • nickthoj:

how do you make a female hit instead of the male when they’re both present? usually the males always hit first and the female swims off

  • YoungAngler11:

    Beautiful bass!

  • crustnugget1:

  • j0j0barz33:

@wubwubwubba thanks yea she was out for awhile, but while i was getting the camera set up I put her in an aerated livewell, not much but at least her slim was still damp

  • 09Bassmaster:

@j0j0barz33 dude ik how you feel i live in Michigan its worse up here but im still catchin 4s and 5s everyday. im not tryin to be a dick face i was jus sayin. and i would have slapped on a texas rig and casted at about a 45 degree angle to the shore and work it slow over the beds.

  • wubwubwubba:

Nice fish jon! persistence pays off during the spawn. One thing i would keep in mind is the time outta the water was at least a minute likley more. I do the same sometimes if i get real excited.

  • Rob13y:
