never fished on navy pier – too crowded – but have caught lots of perch off Burhnam(sp?) harbor

u dont have to believe me but i heard that Asian carp tastes very good and the name “carp” ruins it and the meat is a nice white clean color and its just ugly .its like the white fish
Now we finally agree. I just find it heartbreaking if soon all you can catch is carp–even a big one. These Coho’s are beautiful–i dont want to see lake michigan full of ugly ass carp– is all I am saying.
i like catching bass in all but if and when the fish come they get up to 50 pounds thats a big fish and its going to be fun to catch. fish is fish to me its just another fish u cant eat but another u can catch for fun
Glad your still fishing amoungst the carp- but whats your point? Celebration?Neither the Miss. or the Illinois river have reached biological balance yet with the asian carp (20 and 10 years respectively)-they will eventually destroy the bottom layer of the food chain and the whole system will collapse-might take >25 years-you think that will happen overnight?? So your all happy cause your still catching something else? You don’t know shit. They will have no problem adapting to the great lakes.
dude the Asian carp wont ruin the Lake . look at the Illinois river the Mississippi river there infested with them and there still a major fishing place. not anything to worry about
obviously u dont live any where near the Illinois river or Mississippi river bc u dont know shit. if u go there with your boat theres going to see a shit load of Asian carp jumping and both of the rivers are popular fishing places. also Asian carp aren’t like normal fish there specifically river fish like brook trout we dont even know if they can survive lake Michigan

Sorry man. I have studied the problem. Yes the Feds are now involved–but this should have happened when they were 100 miles down river– not when they are at the door. They argue about closing the canal–should have been done to insure they had no access a year or ago. If ONE female gets by–it all over. And birds eating carp eggs drops one egg over the barrier–its all over. And asians in Toronto are supposidly releasing carp in the great lakes “for luck”. Sad to say things don’t look good.

We fish for coho at 39th (Pershing) st. – I believe we caught 7 or 8 all together?
