The classic image of bass fishing is lazing in a rowboat in the middle of a lake on a sunny afternoon. However, some smart bass enthusiasts have discovered that the best way to get great bass during the summertime months is by fishing in the dead of night. There are a lot of reasons why night fishing for bass is a great idea, so if you haven’t tried evening fishing yet, give it a shot and be prepared to reel in some winners. Summer is the most popular season for fishing, which has both positive and negative aspects for sportsmen. Because bait and equipment are in so much demand during the warmer months of the year, these goods are plentiful and easy to find as retailers stock up in order to get the best bait and tackle to their customers. However, as fishing fans flock to lakes and streams all over the country, all too often the peace and quiet of the sport becomes quite elusive as multiple sportsmen jockey for position on the same water. The summertime crowds can take away a lot of the fun of bass fishing. If you choose to fish at odd times of the night, it is likely that you will never run into the problem of overcrowding. Because only a small percentage of bass fishermen hit the water in the dark, you should have no trouble finding a pond or a lake offering plenty of solitude and a supply of fish that is all yours for the taking.

Another reason why bass fishing at night during the summer can prove to be a kind of fisherman’s jackpot has to do with the habits of the bass themselves. Bass prefer to stay cool, so they tend to head for the deepest waters that they can find during the intense heat of midday and afternoon. The deeper down in the pond the fish are lurking, the more difficult they are to catch and reel in. This can lead to fruitless afternoons of sitting in the sweltering heat and catching very little bass. However, during the cool nighttime hours, the bass come much more readily into shallow waters. This means that they are easier for sportsmen to find and to catch.

Although nighttime bass fishing can be much more rewarding than trying to snag these elusive creatures during the day, there are some disadvantages to night fishing. One problem that many sportsmen are surprised by during late night expeditions is insects. Be sure to pack some bug repellent to help you emerge from your night on the water without falling prey to mosquitoes and other warm weather pests. Another issue to consider is safety. Spending time in a boat when visibility is low because of the lack of light can be more dangerous than boating during the daytime, so make sure to take all of the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your fishing companions.

The largemouth bass is not the only bass dominating freshwater fishing. Alabama has many varieties of bass such as striped, small mouth and spotted bass to name a few. Even though there is a large variety of bass in Alabama’s fresh water lakes, ponds and rivers, the fish most sought after by avid fishermen in Alabama is the largemouth bass because of the challenge and reward in catching it. One of the best ways to get an advantage when fishing for largemouth bass is to use a Garmin fishfinder 160c dual beam which is on sale for $199.99 at

Alabama has more fish in its freshwater lakes than just bass. You’ll find crappie, trout, brim and catfish to name a few. Of these fish, the catfish is the only one that compares in size to the largemouth bass. In fact, catfish grow extremely larger than the largemouth bass. The largest state record for catfish is the blue catfish which weighed 111 pounds with the flat head catfish in second at 80 pounds.

The size of catfish make it a challenge once they are caught but the long wait for them to take your bait can be boring, because catfish are bottom feeders and they feed mostly at night or late in the evening.

When I fish for catfish I use chicken liver or stink bait. You put the bait on your hook, throw it in the water and wait. You must always be alert to the fact that your bait might be taken at any time and be ready to pull back on your line to catch the fish. However, it might be hours before you get a bite.

This is the reason bass fishing is as popular as it is in Alabama. It requires strategy and planning and your constantly in motion trying to locate and catch that trophy fish to place above your fireplace. The use of a Furuno 300c fish finder or Humminbird 778c from

If your fishing for the larger bass, you need to fish the deeper water and a good fish finder can help you find where the fish are hiding. If your fishing for smaller bass such a one to two pounds then fish the shallow water, under and around trees and brush is the ideal place to fish. A fish finder can still help you, because it locates shallow water and can keep you from dragging bottom.

With everything said, it doesn’t matter what type of fish you prefer to catch, because Alabama’s ponds, rivers and lakes provide a large variety to choose from and you can fish for different types of fish depending on your desires.

http://www.deepwaterfishfinder.com. It allows you to locate fish as deep as 900 feet below the water and alarms for fish size, shallow water, deep water and low battery. With the use of the Garmin fishfinder160c you can locate the large fish and cast only toward them. The record largemouth bass is 16 pounds 8 ounces and the use of a good fishfinder gets you closer to that record. http://www.deepwaterfishfinder.com greatly improves your chances of landing the fish of your dreams. They also have fish finders with gps systems in case you loose your bearings and am not sure how to get home.

Anson Place of Lake Norman, North Carolina is a beautiful and exquisite waterfront community. This luxurious community will include large estate style lots and houses built by some of the area’s leading custom home builders. Home architectural guidelines are in place to ensure that proper homes will meet the overall theme of the neighborhood. Precautions have been taken to keep the land in its pristine state. And to further protect the value of this community, certain subdivision deed restrictions apply, designed to assure the quality of the natural environment for years to come. Each individual property is unique and must be visited in person to truly appreciate.

Three types of properties here include: Lake front or water front, lake view or water view, and lake access or water access property. Lakefront or waterfront property is defined as having the lake out your back door. Your property borders the lake and you live on the lake. Lakeview or waterview property is defined where you have a view of the lake, but your property doesn’t border the lake. Lake access or water access property is defined as having access to the lake (your property doesn’t border the lake, and you don’t see the lake). With lake access or water access property, you are just a short walk or drive away from enjoying the lake. Whatever type of lifestyle you desire, we’ll be able to help!

What’s the first rule of Real Estate? Location, Location, Location. Anson Place at Lake Norman is conveniently located minutes from cultural attractions, local events, entertainment establishments, shopping, hospitals, and fine dining. This area has become famous for its quality lifestyle and family friendly activities fit for all ages. From museums to shopping, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and explore. North Carolina has many major metropolitan areas throughout the state. The largest cities include the Charlotte Area (Cornelius, Mooresville, Huntersville, Davidson, Denver), Raleigh Area (Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and Apex), Asheville, Wilmington, Hickory, Burlington, Salisbury, Greensboro, Winston Salem, and High Point. Wherever you live, you’re a short distance to a major metropolitan area. Why is NC #1 on many people’s short list to live? All of the reasons above plus a Better Climate, Lower Taxes, Lower Cost of Living, and Southern Hospitality.

What to do on the lake today? How about:

~ Awake with coffee and watch the morning fog rise off the lake
~ Spend the morning bass fishing on the glistening water.
~ Take family and friends water skiing around noon.
~ Lazy afternoons relaxing in a hammock.
~ Complete the day with a sunset wine cruise.

NC Lake Property is not just a financial investment – but also an investment in your family, your future, your enjoyment, and your peace of mind.

There’s nothing better than living along the lake – The water draws us in with its promise of peaceful times and recreational family fun. To own property beside it is a dream for many. And the Southeastern part of the United States has the waterfront property in the highest demand. To help you investigate North Carolina and make a sound waterfront investment, we founded NClakefront.com Realty.

About NClakefront.com Realty – If you’re looking for property in a lakefront community in North Carolina, you’ve come to the right place: NClakefront.com Realty.
Just a couple of miles north of San Francisco is one of California’s prettiest vacation lakes — Clear Lake.

A friend visited Clear Lake not too long ago and came back raving about the area’s unexpected scenic and natural beauty – so we had to investigate. On a recent swing through Northern California, we dropped in on Clear Lake, staying at a small, unpretentious waterfront resort that brought back childhood memories of vacationing at lakefront resorts in Central Washington state. It was like vacationing in a simpler place at a simpler time.

At 43,000 acres, Clear Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in California, and some say it may be the oldest lake in North America. The lake is the centerpiece for several communities in the Lake County area, including Lakeport, Clearlake, Kelseyville, Glenhaven and several others. Taken together, these communities and several parks in the area offer a wide range of family vacation activities.

Chief among those are boating, fishing and swimming, three main reasons people stay at the Seabreeze Resort in Glenhaven, headquarters for our brief stay in the Clear Lake area. Owner Steve Nash happened on the resort many years ago as he was looking to buy a waterfront house. His accountant advised him that the income from the resort would go a long way toward helping to pay for his new waterfront home, and so Nash – who had never operated any sort of lodging facility – took the plunge.

Today, Nash divides his time between Clear Lake and San Diego, where he lives during winter months. But every year, April through October, it’s back to Clear Lake and the round-the-clock chores of managing the resort. With only one housekeeper for help, Nash is up at dawn each day, working to well past sundown. But, as we discovered, he always finds time to chat and joke around with his guests – many of whom have been returning to the small resort for many years.

Since we were traveling with a four-year-old, we were booked into the “family wing” of the resort – some housekeeping units a little further from the water and from the guests in the waterfront adult wing. Our cottage was like a small apartment, maybe 1950s vintage, but nicely remodeled and cheerfully decorated. A full kitchen was included, as well as a living room, bath and a bedroom with two queen beds. Thankfully, on this summer visit, the unit was air conditioned.

Our cottage had a grassy area, lunge chairs and several individuals just outside the door. Nearby was Steve’s fragrant flower garden – which he obviously takes great care in maintaining – and then a few steps further was the boat launch, dock and swimming area. In short, the Seabreeze offered everything you need for a restful lakefront stay or a base of operations for your boating holiday.

But we were visiting Clear Lake to explore. Just why was everyone raving about this lake?

The first thing we discovered was that, as advertised, the lake and its surroundings are beautiful. The blue-water lake is in the middle of a hilly, mostly treed landscape that is especially interesting when approaching from the east. We also noticed that this lake is big. On the map it looked like it would be fairly easy to circumnavigate since there were highways, roadways and towns and villages on almost every part of the lake. Once we were driving, however, it soon became apparent our trip around the lake was going to take us at least a half day.

Along the way we stopped in several little lakeside towns, including the largest city, Clearlake, which is the largest population center in a region that only has about 12,000 year-round residents. Each town is different, but all share the beauty of Clear Lake and recreation opportunities are never far away.

Along most shores of the lake you’ll find a combination of private residences and small motels and inns like the Seabreeze. We did note, however, there is a large timeshare resort on the northwest shore, as well as the famous Konocti Harbor Resort and Spa, known for bringing headline musical acts in for performances in the Outdoor Konocti Field Amphitheater as well as the resort’s indoor showroom. Altogether, the resort puts on about 100 shows per year.

We noticed that parks are abundant throughout the region. Many are located on the more than 100 miles of shoreline but, in addition to camping and watersports, several parks offer other features. For example, the Anderson Marsh State Park is known for nature walks and birdwatching, while the Middletown Trailside Nature Preserve offers the “EcoArts Lake County Scupture Walk” conducted on 107 acres of natural park. The area’s history is highlighted at the Anderson Marsh State Historic Park.

There are plenty of other opportunities to learn about the history of Clear Lake, including two county museums, the Lake County Museum in Lakeport and the Lower Lake Historical Schoolhouse Museum in Lower Lake. Learn about the stars at the Taylor Planetarium and Observatory in Kelseyville.

For those who enjoy visiting wineries, this region has several that are all within easy driving distance of the lake.

No matter which shoreline, there seemed to be plenty of anglers taking advantage of what the locals say is the best bass fishing in the West. The bass fishing is so good that several professional bass fishing organizations have designated Clear Lake as the best bass lake in the country. But it’s not just bass — catfish, blackfish, Sacramento perch, hitch, crappie and bluegill are all caught at Clear Lake.

There was no fishing for us this trip, but we did enjoy the great swimming area right at the dock in front of the Seabreeze. Our midweek visit was quiet and restful – and like a step back into the days of Ward and June Cleaver when family vacations just seemed a lot simpler.
.
AT A GLANCE

WHERE: You can reach Clear Lake by driving north on 101 and then east on Highway 175. From inland cities, you can drive north on I-5 and west on Highway 20.

WHAT: Clear Lake is known as one of the best recreation lakes in California, partly because of its size and services, and partly because it is easily accessible from Northern California population centers.

WHEN: Any time of the year, but the typical lake recreation “season” runs from April through October.

WHY: Clear Lake offers a throwback to a simpler time with fewer crowds and quiet little beach resorts dotting its shoreline. Lake County offers a tremendous number and variety of parks and recreation, so there are many choices.

HOW: More information on Clear Lake and Lake County are available at Lake County Visitor Information Center, 1-800-525-3743 or visit www.lakecounty.com. Email: info@lakecounty.com. More information on the Seabreeze Resort is at 707-998-3327, or visit www.seabreezeresort.net. Email: info@Seabreezeresort.net.

When fishing for largemouth bass there are certain things you should consider. For starters it’s intelligent to choose what time of the day you should go. Considering that each fish comes out at different times, you have to be familiar with when the largemouth bass comes out the most to get its food. If you didn’t already know, largemouth bass fish are typically found in fresh water and they are present in most states. They can be found in lakes, ponds, seas and even very small ponds. These particular fish don’t have eye lids so they tend to stay away from the sun. This is a very important thing to remember when fishing for largemouth bass because you will need to go fishing when it’s not as sunny out.

They are most commonly found during the early morning hours and again in the late afternoon/early evening. This is when they feed the most as the sun is likely to be far lower and they are still able to see well enough to catch their prey. While fishing for largemouth bass may seem hard, it’s actually pretty simple if you do your research. Aside from the fact that they tend to come out in the morning or evening, they can be found during the day but are usually hiding behind rocks, structures under water, and even behind any material that may be down there. This is important to know because if you use a crank-bait to suspend in the shadows under the water, you have a far better chance of catching some largemouth bass.

How To Catch Largemouth Bass

So now we’ve got the time and the reason why these fish don’t emerge during the daylight as often. Now how can you catch these suckers? Well, for one thing you can use a crank-bait and suspend it deep into the waters like we discussed earlier Another way is to use a frog pattern on top of a lily pad so the bass will grab it thinking it’s a frog. These fantastic fish like to sit and watch their prey before going after it, so for that reason, you may want to try using a spinner-bait. These are lures that have metal blades which propel when they hit the water. They appear to mimic a small fish and are very eye catching to the bass. These are just a few ways to get comfortable fishing for largemouth bass. The most important thing to consider is lure and time of day.

There is no greater feeling that being head-to-head with your nemesis and coming out on top!

The next page will teach you everything you will ever need to know about How To Catch Largemouth Bass.
