are there any bass tournaments in az?
i have been fishing along time from shore but only the last two years from a boat. i’m looking for some local tournaments to enter. striper or large mouth bass i don’t care witch ones just want to get involved. also i noticed that my old boat gets a lot of bad comments from “rich” people. i’m looking for some “good ole boys” that like to have tournaments and fun. no snobs please not everybody has money like you do….

ABSOLUTELY! There are tournaments at Lake Havasu, Roosevelt Lake, Canyon lake and many others. Contact Bassmasters or one the local tackle shops. Cabella’s is also a good source. They are located next to University of Phoenix stadium.
In Arizona you have a variety of opportunities for good fishing. This is a great time to catch strippers in Lake Havasu. Fish at night. You can go by the London Bridge. Shad will be around the dock lights in the thousands. It’s best to snag the shad with a weighted treble hook. then cast it into the channel. Set the rod in a pole holder and wait for the pole to start bouncing or listen to the reel scream.
Roosevelt has a great Bass and Crappie population. And I am not talking little 4″ Crappie. I am talking 2 pound Crappie that hit like a freight train.
Salt river below Saguaro lake id a nice winter trout location. If you drift it in the spring, you will find some large bass.
So enjoy fishing in Arizona, and don’t let your hair catch on fire.

Be careful. It’s very addicting. I started out fishing a Bass club that only fished in places where you could rent jon boats and it grew from there. If you look for some of the state level B.A.S.S. clubs, usually you can find some tournaments that are just us good ole boys. Have fun and good luck.
