Best all around bass setup for a decent price?
Alright I have about 150 dollars to spend and I need a rod and reel. My HS tournament is coming up quick and I don’t have time to learn a bait-caster. Also I would appreciate it if you could give me tips on what specifications or criteria I need when picking a rod. And finally this is an all around set up so it needs to be able to manage all the way from soft plastics and topwater to crankbaits and spinnerbaits

I’d definitely recommend the Pflueger President. It’s a tremendously good spinning reel for the price ($59.99) and is as smooth as anything else in it’s price range. These are very good reels and worth even more than they retail for, in my opinion.
If you’re using 8lb and 10lb mono I’d go with the 6735-size. If you’re fishing 12lb a lot, go with the 6740-size. Here’s the link to the reel so you can check it out : http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Pflueger_President_Spinning_Reel_10_Bearing/descpage-PPSR.html
Pair it up with a 7′ Medium or Medium/Heavy rod, full graphite. I’d go with a Berkley Lightning Rod Shock 7′ Medium which will handle up to 12lb line and lures up to 3/4oz. These sale for $49.99. That pair will work for any lures down to 1/8oz up to 3/4oz. Perfect all-around spinning combo for bass.
get a pfleuger combo at sports authority,spinnig rod/reel.this should handle all the stuff you’ll catch.It will be a presidential.or similar.check what’s in stock and available 6’6″ med.action.
I would say get the Pflueger President as well. I’ve heard nothing but great things about how smooth and castable these reels are. I would go out on a limb and say, by reading reviews that the President is the best reel out there for under $80.
If you’re fishing a lot of eighth-ounce to three-eighths-ounce lures I’d go with a 6’6″ or 7′ Medium rod. If you’re fishing more three-eighths-ounce to three-quarter-ounce lures I’d go with the 6’6″ or 7′ Medium/Heavy rod. For the rod, well it’s all on you. There’s a lot of good rods out there.
Bass pro shops Mega Cast spinning combo, bout 30 bucks, then you could spend the rest on new line, new lures, more storage accessories. Good Luck!
