what you do is weeks before the tournament just fish the lake and when you find a spot where you catch a few good sized fish remember that spot then a few days later fish the lake again and start from that spot and fish around that area to see where the fish have moved to and remember that spot. and another couple of days fish again and start at the second spot and fish around. etc… then you can start see the pattern of the fish. but don’t fish too soon of the tournament then when you fish on the day of the tournament the fish wont bite give the fish time to heal and not be spooked(for the lack of a better word).

If your serious enough to get into tourneys, then you most likely think you need tons of equipment like I do. Take and rig up your rods with lures that you fish from top to bottom depending on the season, and the conditions at hand.

Then start fishing. Find where the fish are holding in the water column and what retreive or presentation that it takes to get them to bite.

A good resource to look into would be the Bass Resource website. Lots of great bass anglers and even a few tourney anglers who will answer your question alot better than 90% of the yahoos on this site.

first you need to find out where and what type of water your gonna be fishing in

try a variety of lures, if a specific type of lure get strike twice, stick to it.
