The best thing to do is check at your nearest bait and tackle store to see if there are any bass clubs in your area. You might get in on one of their tournaments as a non-boater. You’d be paired with someone who has a boat and needs someone to fish with. You can learn a lot in a short time fishing with someone who knows his stuff. The lakes around here also have “rodeos” on weekends. It’s just a short version of a tournament, usually 4 hours or so and there’s no major sponsors, so they just take up money at the beginning and pay back out to the top 2 or 3 boats. Good luck with your bass fishing and maybe some day we’ll see you fishing against VanDam.
Some times fly fishing is good for that or fishing for is good for that too and if you have bass things too. Good luck to you.
google bass fishing clubs tournemets @ the state u r in, many local waters have tourneys starting early in the season or even winter open water.
goebert2 is right also local stores can help, even check out bass pro shops or your local shops have newsletters either mail or online.
Amazingly Wal-Mart usually sponsors an open tournament at many big lakes during the warmer months. They usually have fliers at the counter in the outdoors department during the warmer months of the year.
