On many large lakes where the wind really whips up, a big boat with a 225 is a nice luxury to have but on some rivers here in the south, a 15 ft. Jon boat with a 30 hp and stick steering actually has an advantage over a 20 ft. Nitro! It can get into cuts and oxbows where a big bass boat can only dream of going!
you dont even need a boat to be good! i when i lived up north in minnesota i shore fished almost all my life and the lakes were i fished people would pass by and fish were i am because im the only one out there catching bass while they are in there boats catching nothing. i think before you buy a boat learn were the fish are.
i agree you dont need a big boat to catch fish. its nice to have a big boat though on some lakes like lake of the ozarks where it is so populated and you have so many skiiers and pleasure boaters. there are some big boats on that lake that throw wakes that can swamp even a big bass boat. i dont own a boat now but the last one i had was a 19 foot stratos. it worked well there but i wasnt ever in the big part of the lake where the cruisers spend most of their time. im glad he is doing this though.
Won a small tournament and placed 11 out of 156 in a 16 ft boat with a forty horse.
@jwos06 WORD !
I totally agree, My friend and I won a tournament against 10 other big bass boats, and I have a 16.5 Alumacraft. It doesn’t matter what kind of boat you have, it matters if you can catch fish or not.
