what is the best way to keep bass alive in a livewell during a hot summer day?
i’m a tournament fisherman. So I need to keep the bass alive and healthy until weigh in. then i can release them.

First off get you a live well water treatment such as any of the products on this page and fallow the instructions
http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-LIVETREAT.html
Second take some water bottles(17 oz or less) and freeze them,(keep extras in the ice box or a cooler on ice) and you can put them in the live well(one at a time)……DO NOT OPEN THEM…….just put them in there to cool the water off. Why do not open you do not want chlorine in the live well water with the fish. Putting the water bottles in the live wells will lower the water temp and help with dissolved Oxygen in the water.
Keep your recycling pump running and watch the water level in you live well tanks….keep them as full as possible.
You can also put Ice in the live wells but you have to watch how much you put in, if you put to much you can put the fish in shock, or to little and it will do no good. Why the water bottle work better.
During the hot summer months I only fish at night, and still use this method for night tournaments, when the water is above 80 deg.
Keep the water as cold as possible and keep your livewell pump cycling. Only keep the fish you want.
