what to use to catch LM bass at lake pleasent az.?

i’m fishing a low key tournament this weekend and need some good ideas to catch bass. i also have a paper map if you know any good hot spots and you would like to help me win. i’m fairly new to bass fishing and don’t have a lot of money to spend. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
the weather says it should be about 100, light wind, clear, clear water, water temp around 71, and the spawn is over now
i took first place with a purple chomper drop shot

they should be done spawning. they should be hungry. since you can’t use live shad, use a shad imitation jerk bait or shad colored fluke type lure drop-shotted.
use shad colored pop-rs or ricos on any schools of shad you may come across.
look for birds. herons and egrets along the shoreline and grebes or cormorants on the lake.
a hot bait is the ragetail shad by strike king. work it as a buzz bait along the outside edges of rows of brush or around stick-ups.

lf you don’t win, it’s because you didn’t read our answers.

come back and edit this Q to let us know how you did !

in-line spinners in multiple colors. white, grey and fire tiger are good colors. rooster tails are a good brand. in-line spinners are great in big schools of shad.

plus these lures are great parallel to the shore or logs and rocks.

David right now all across the south the bass are hitting purple salamanders if you care to try that. Since it is producing greatly, I would put a little investment in a pack. Something else that is happening right now is dark worms, but that is in my area, so it might help you out too. Since they have been shallow for so long, I would think that they might be hitting top water as well, so be sure to take a buzz bait with you.

    Good luck

Try topwater frogs, buzz baits, pop-r’s and you can never go wrong with a plastic worm or lizard.

If it’s warming up there I’ll share some Georgia Boy tricks with you.

LM Bass if they are spawning nearly never bite. I don’t know if they are on the bed or not this time of year in AZ. If so, use a rubber lizard lure or fake snake head on a plastic worm (Black or Copper colors work best). Work it slowly across the bottom near structures or the shoreline. Bass will often strike at these when they won’t touch anything else to protect their eggs.

Early Spring, top water spinners in lime green, white, or yellow work well in murky water. If you are not near many weeds, rattle traps work good also.

Keep different rods handy and see what is working best. Pay attention to other fisherman and notice what is working for them or not during the tournament. Stay away from Bill Dance, great man, but he is a klutz and has many accidents. If you see him, keep a video camera running for the America’s Funniest Videos. They give away yearly $10k prizes on videos.

I don’t know why, but growing up around my Granny that dipped snuff, she’d spit on the worm or lure before casting and outfish all of us. It works with Levi Garrett chewing tobacco too (Not Redman, too hot).

You can “Chum” the water with bait to stir up the smaller fish into a feeding frenzies. This will attract the predator fish by nature. Of course if baiting the “Bass Hole” violates regulations….you could be a messy eater with your corn chips, bread crumbs, potato chips, etc. that “Accidentally” fall into the water while your having a snack to keep up your energy.
