Will released bass spook other bass into not biting anything?

Okay I fished a tournament on Saturday and caught a lot of bass on 3 main spots. I released them after weigh in on the same 3 spots, along with other competitors fish. The next day nothing would bite on any of the spots on any lures. I know there was fish there because I released them there. But I couldn’t get them to bite. Why?

i catch and release all the time and always catch fish in my same special spot
it could be one of 2 things:
    1. sometimes fish just like to change spots and they move their entire group or…
    2. maybe you changed your bait
tip: use shiners THEY ARE THE BEST!!! i am constantly catching fish

  • Adam S:

A few released fish won’t hurt the bite. Once you catch like 8 or 10 out of a spot they might start to get that something is wrong and get lockjaw. But if you leave them alone they get it together usually in an hour or two. So I think your problem was changing weather conditions or other factor.

Give it a week then go back and try again…I’ve caught a few big ones more than once, but it wasn’t right away.

They like to migrate. they’ll eat all the minnows in one area…move on, then keep moving and staying where the water temp is to their liking.
