Any bass lures that aren’t boring, but catch fish?

I find soft plastic fishing to be boring, unless you are sight fishing. You just never see what you’re lure is doing, and you fish so slow.

Any all-around lures that will catch bass regularly? Something that is fun to fish. Any links will be appreciated.

Fish the slop and pads with rats { weedless frog type lures } drag them slowly over the top stoping in any openings & be ready for heart stopping blow ups. This pattern works best when the water temp. is 65 degrees or higher. Another fun bait is a chatter bait, retrieve them at high rates over or around cover, a great reactionary bait — don’t try to feed the bass with soft plastics, make them hit, trigger their natural Instinct to chase fleeing prey.

any top water lure…atleast you get to see them splash out of the water to get it…

Yeah definitely the most exciting lures are top water lures. You of course wont have luck all year round using top waters but when the water temp is warm and fish are pretty active you cant beat it. Theres a load of top water lures from frogs, popper type baits, jitterbugs, etc. Zoom also makes a plastic worm called a trick worm. There made to be fished weightless and they stay up on the surface. The action is great on them. Texas rig them.

Like the other posts have mentioned, what you would want to use is a “reaction strike” lure.

Probably the most productive reaction strike lures made are:

    1. 1/8-1/4 OZ Spinnerbait’s- For dirty/stained water try the Chartreuse version of these- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_15394____SearchResults For Clear water try the White or White/Chartreuse version of these- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58845_100006001_100000000_100006000_100-6-1?ordProd=Y&CMID=BOTTOM_selectitems#itemDetail

    2. Rattle-Trap type lures- Try the 1/4 OZ size in colors 56, 57 & 90- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44610____SearchResults?ordProd=Y&CMID=BOTTOM_selectitems#itemDetail

    3. Weedless Spoons- Use this in weedy conditions. Try colors 3, 12, 15- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_30456____SearchResults

(Although, I love Topwater lures and they are probably the most fun to “watch”, I don’t think they could be considered a lure that “catches Bass regularly”. However, you might want to get some anyway…….)

Hope this helps? Good luck catchin’.

I like to use the Zoom Fluke Jerkbait soft-plastic lure. It can be used as topwater as well as regular. Its a jerkbait so of course you jerk it instead of the boring cast and retrieve presentation.

hey man, sorry to pop your bubble but all lures can be “boring” if the fishing isnt just right. some people find that the rubber worm is the best lure out there where there are others that just hate them. there are others that can fish the hell out of a popper when there are others that can not get a strike on nothing. if you are talkin about a lure that will chrun out the bass day in and day out….sorry to tell you that that lure isnt made just yet. it really is due to the temp, water clarity, time of year, there are so any reasons why the fish are or are not biting like all of us wish they would. but for an exciting lure that i love, the reason that i like it is the unexpected crashing down of a largmouth on top of it is the old fashion hollow frog lure. it is exciting because you toss it over cover such as lilly pads and jerk it accross the pads back down in the water back on the pads and so forth and there is no telling when a largmouth is going to jump out the water to come crashing down on top of the lure. catching fish is exictind but it is the sudden crashing strikes that the bucket mouths gives. i will leave you a site for the hollow frog, most bait and tackle shope should carry them. man good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

if you look at it you will see the hooks coming around its back legs here is a tip with these frogs. take a few small and i mean small split shot weights and stick them through the hole that the hooks comes through. get a drop or two of silicone and close up the hole. now you have a great lure that is also a rattle trap. helps gets the bass attention through the lillies.

Like F_K said Rat-L-Traps are fun to fish and catch ‘em regularly. I love the bleeding patterns like bleeding shad or bleeding perch when fishing one, though.

Also try a Strike King spinnerbait. I like the Mini-Strike in white, and the full sized 1/4 oz. spinnerbaits in sexy shad. All of ‘em work though. Try some of the $1 spinner/buzzbaits from Wal-Mart.

That’s the two i would try, i don’t like top-waters or spoons or buzzbaits too much.
