Any must have trout or bass lures?
I like fishing for trout (rainbow, brown) and largemouth bass. My question is, what are some of your favorite lures for either trout and/or bass? Your must haves.

Without looking in my trout tackle box, I know that I have at least two or three of the following: Daredevle, Kastmaster, Panther Martin, Rooster-Tail. I have one Mepps Syclops (thanks to the Konrad brothers’ endorsement) and an old Super Duper that I’ve had for years. I still catch more trout on bait: Power Bait, Gulp eggs/corn, Pautzke salmon eggs and live nightcrawlers.
I inherited my father’s old Bomber plugs, many of which I don’t use because I would rather not risk losing them. I have numerous Rapalas, spinner-baits and Cotton Cordell Big Os. If I did more bass fishing, I would probably buy assortments of Senko worms.
I know next to nothing about Trout fishing but I can give you some key baits for Bass fishing.
1. Jigs are a must have. A broad selection of sizes and colors are important. 1/4 ounce, 3/4 ounce, and 1/2 ounce jigs are the main sizes you need to look into. When the Bass are deep a jig is the only bait that will consistently pull them out many times. Don’t forget about your trailers for them either. Zoom and Yum make great craw trailers for jigs.
2. A broad selection of plastics (worms, tubes, and lizards). These baits will work in nearly all conditions. Again, have a selection of sizes and colors. Texas Rigging is the best all around rigging method in my opinion so be sure to have plenty of bullet weights and gapped hooks.
3. Lures like Rattle Traps and crankbaits. When fish are feeding on baitfish these things are a key lure to use. Right now is a great time for these lures in most places because the fish are finally getting into feeding heavily on the baitfish.
4. Lastly, top waters. When Spring and Summer set in Bass will be feeding on the surface a lot, especially in the morning and evening hours. Having baits like buzzbaits, popper style lures, Spooks, and weedless frogs are all great baits to have in this situation.
you absolutely need a good assortment of soft plastics for the bass.
assorted sizes and colors of worms, senkos, craws, tubes, grubs, creatures and some of the rage tail plastic topwaters by strike king. also a few fat ikas by yamamoto.
assorted hooks and weights to go with them.
then throw in a few zara spooks and pop-rs and you will be set.
unless you want to add a few spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and/or crankbaits.
may as well throw a few assorted jigs in the box too.
a can of earthworms for the trout!
