Bass Lures For A Rainy Day?
Hello, I get paid today and i plan to fill my tacklebox and im goin bass fishing. Normally I dont fish in the rain but today is a little different.
It’s not really “raining” it is more of a mist that gets heavier and lighter throughout the day, which when i researched, i found that it is prime bass fishing weather.
Need to know what lures to be using today. I mean, I know bright colored lures are a good choice due to it being overcast, but what type, shape, size, etc?
thanks any help is appreciated!

A Baby Heddon Torpedo, in frog pattern seems to work best for me. These are not so good over deep water, but if your casting them to the shallows & weeds then its a great choice. Experiment with different retrieve speeds & cadences until you get a hit, the fish will always tell you what they want when you get it right. Also try stick worms (plastic night crawlers) in the 5 6 7 inch sizes, let ‘em fall slowly to the bottom, you can twitch ‘em, hop ‘em, or let ‘em set there. If you see your line going out, set that hook! Good luck. P.S. if your going for river smallies i recommend a Rapala Jointed Shad Rap, in shad color, in the 3 size, dives to 3 ft, its absolutley killer!
Double-jointed Rapalas.
Hey there,
I would suggest that you use top water lures. Like a buzz bait. Good Luck and happy fishing.
top water lures are the best in the rain
use a black buzz bait, don’t use crank baits i did that when i live in northern MN didn’t catch nothing, also join fishing message boards
those guys are the best to go to and bait shop as well
topwater that is loud and bright
