Bass will eat anything, plain & simple. If they haven’t seen it, they still will eat it. Rainbow trout like lures mimics a fish, well hot george bass love fish! LOL. The silver on the lure may make the bass think it’s a shad or shiner. Who knows.
Now, would i use a lure that mimics a trout for a bass that has never seen a trout? Hell no.
Would it work? Probably.
yes. if you have one, go ahead and use it. if you’re planning to buy one to use in a lake that has no trout, buy and use one that copies a small bass or sunfish instead. these will work as well.
You bet, a’ Bass will hit a trout rig. H _ _ l on the oppisite side of the species I’ve even caught Trout (Rainbow, Brown and Brookies) usin’ Bass lures. The lure is simply an attractant representin’ food…;)… < ' ( (( > <
Go ahead and throw it out there. At my local lake, I used a rainbow trout pattern Yo-Zuri jerkbait in the spring of last year and caught myself some decent sized largemouth and some crappies. During the pre-spawn, this would be the best time to use it, as the fish will be very aggressive and looking to eat whatever they can to gear up for the spawn. If the lure has a good/realistic action and profile…it could work for you. Fishing is a lot of trial and error. You have to try different things to find out what the fish want at different times of the day, times of the year, water temperatures, and water clarities. Happy fishing and tight lines!!
Yes! One of the largest bass stringers I have ever seen came from a local lake in Louisiana. by a friend of mine. Since there are no rainbow trout in the state, I can only assume that they hit the lure because they had not seen it a thousand times before. But there could be other reasons involved. But since bass fishing is not an exact science,we can only assume certain things.
