you don’t need ten.
a weedless plastic frog will work as well as anything else out there for really weedy waters.
other larger soft plastics will also produce when rigged weedlessly.
that’s about it. that is what l owe my weed fishing successes to.
(pssst!) … try the ragetail toad by strike king! rig it on a 5/0 EWG hook with no weight, 15lb line or an equivalent diameter in a braid and a medium BC outfit.
TOPWATERS!
Frogs!!! Frogs!!! Frogs!!!
Besides that try any soft plastic worm with weedless hook or texas rigged.
What do you consider “thick”?
In Florida, we would pull up to a likely Hydrilla bed, stick a push-pole or broom-handle into the gunk and make a 3-4 FT wide hole. Come back in 30-40 minutes and fish it!
That’s “thick”! (lol)
Anywho.
F_K’s Top 5 ” SUPER THICK Weedless lures” for BIG Bass (lol)

1. Ribbontail plastic worm, 10″ in size, green pumpkin in color. Green pumpkin seems to blend right into the color of the hydrilla and water which makes the lure perfect. “Culprit” makes great worms for fishing heavy grass. Texas-rig the 10incher with a 5/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook and a 1/2oz bullet weight. The heavier weight will help the worm go through the hydrilla much easier than a lighter one.
2. Top-water frog. Just any hard-bodied or soft-bodied frog will do. Rage tail toad’s have tremendous action, and I’m sure they’ll catch fish. Fish ‘em like a buzzbait. You can also get the hard-bodied frogs, which you fish kinda like a popper, twitching it occasionally. Get a standard “green” or “frog” color.
3. Jig. A big, heavy jig with a flappin’ craw trailer will work good as well. I’d prefer a 3/4oz jig for getting through the hydrilla fast. Also, I’d put a 4inch “chigger craw” trailer on the jig. I’d try to find a green pumpkin jig and a green pumpkin trailer. Once again, green pumpkin is my favorite hydrilla color.
4. Crawdad. Get that same 4″ chigger craw and Texas-rig it. Use a 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook and a 1/2oz bullet weight. Jig it, twitch it, dead-stick-it. I love chigger craws and I catch most of my heavy cover fish with these…
II can’t even name ten bass lures that are totally weed-less. However, you just need those four above.
