  • krissynay:

A 1 ounce jig head with a curly tail white grub.

  • unmamfqlm:

Yeah grubs on a jig head are good, anything that resembles a shad, jerkbaits, an occasional spinnerbait will do pretty good too. Like you said the top waters are the most productive bait for them when the water warms in the summer and also the most fun in my opinion.

  • the blue duece:

i assume u are talking stripers and not little white bass(commonly called stripe bass where i live)

have u tried big swimbaits?i use them below river dams to catch hybrid stripes.
i usually try to get 3/4-1oz,and atleast 3/12″.
    i prefer white in color.

seem to do ok with them

    good luck

  • randy:

we used to use “pencil poppers” all day long and get good results

  • king of fishing:

metal lipped swimers, hopkins, bucktails with pork, darters, bombers, and sometimes pencil poppers will work

  • Bass Fishin' B I T C H:

Big topwater lures, my favorite is a wooden 9″ Zara Spook. I use that all day and manage to land a few.

That or big trout patterned swimbaits. BIG 9″, 10″ or 12″ Castaic trouts. Largemouths prefer them deadsticking, but stripers seem to like them when they’re being waked in, or swam slowly.

  • Artie:

anything that resembles the little fish they are eating. I like throwing crankbaits fat raps, rattle traps and bomber deep diving long A’s into the feeding frenzy: Look for birds diving on boiling water! I have a friend who uses in-line (pike and musky baits) spinners for strippers but like you eluded they are just another surface lure to choose from.
