I used a small spinner for large mouth bass. It is tricky though. You can get caught up on the lilly pads. After a few times though you learn to stay away from them. I also like to use little neon plastic worms, the fish are attracted to them on bright sunny days. Well good luck.
The trick is not to let it get tangled in the weeds, in your case Lilly pads. They make “weedless” lures that have something guarding the hock but still allow it to catch the fish. This helps but it still isn’t foolproof. I’d recommend trying to retrieve the lure just on the outside parallel to the Lilly pads, with what? It all depends. Time of day, time of year, water conditions are just a few of the variables.
Plastic floating frogs are great and also get the plastic worms that float. Just throw them on top the pads and work them very slow. I have good luck casting to the bank and then very slowly work to the water and on the pads. It will blow your mind when the big bass comes through. I have had them hit it and miss and knock it 5 or 6 feet away and turn and go after it again.
strike king has a lure called a grass frog has swimming legs and i have had some really good luck with it and comes
in a bunch of colors or texas rig a slug-o or rubber worm
with no weight or any weedless type lure
use a top water frog lure. They work wonders around heavy topwater cover
Zoom worms are one of the best things to use around lily pads and especially 4″ to 8″. No bigger than that. I fing the ones with the sparkles work well. When using a worm the best way to work it is either to cast it between the lilys and let it sink or bounce it on top of the lily pads. A topwater frog is good to. The sunlight depends on catching fish around lilypads to. The shady area around the lilys is most likely to harbor big bass. You will also need a quiet approach to the fish. I reccomend rows in a small john boat or a canoe. Buzzbaits on the top off the water also produce big fish. Good luck fishing
