YUM Zlamander, worms, crawbugs, etc. Or plastic frogs.
sluggo’s
Actually, I use soft plastics when the bite changes, and it seems to do a great job. I typically throw the normal striper plugs – super spooks, pencil poppers, yozuri minnows, bombers, rebels – you name it…I might have it.
However, when the river changes, and the fish turn off the larger prey, typically after they’ve exited the river system, I use things like flukes, eels, rubber swimbaits, etc. I like the Berkeley flukes, NOT THE SALTWATER ONES, best. I just use a weighted bass hook, with the weight on the shank to keep the plastic upright a little more than a weight at the “nose” would. Other plastics, like long worms would probably work too, I just haven’t found the need to experiment further yet.
Big soft plastic sinking swim baits.
