I don’t know where you are but in my experience, the fish are normally found locating on sunken humps and bars. Sunken road beds or railroad beds are normally the deal. Doesn’t have to be deep. If you start seeing movement on top of the water, I usually resort to the “buzz bait” or the less aggressive but just as effective “Bango Lure “. If the fish are found on the fore mentioned sunken road beds you need something that will hug tight to the incline or decline. I usually can find them with a “carolina rig”. ” Deep diving crainkbaits” usually are good to bounce off the incline or a big spinner bait that you can get DOWN quick and ride the incline. Another thing I look for is rocks, the water usually heats up around the rocks and the fish tend to gather around them. This when I normally start pitching the old jig or soft plastic anything. Just be patient and work it out and in the rocks. You can also slow roll a spinner bait through there among other things. You’ll get hung up a little, but if you aint gettin hung up, you probably aint in the right place. Good luck.
A good spinner will usually work wonders
Fall is the time that bass will be schooled up looking to feed on shad. Any lure with the shape and action of shad are your “go to” lures this time of the year. Lures such as Rat-l-Traps (lipless crankbaits) bait that dive 0-8′ such as a Bomber 4A and 3/8-1/2 oz spinnerbaits with a double willow leaf blade and chartruese and white skirt are real killers. You can also pick off some nice sized bass using a jig/craw or Fluke fished weightless over weedbeds and on weedlines. Don’t forget your topwater baits too for some great action during low-light conditions. Rapala minnows can be great for pond fishing in fall.
i like to use topwater more and more as the water cools down in the fall. try some floating minnows, zara spooks, and the buzzbaits. dont forget about the jigs and spinnerbaits though
spinners are the bait
well a small mini 1/16 ounze spinnerbait will work to perfection. also scented Berkley plastic worms (motor oil color or a dark color) work amazing as well. spinners will work very well and also small floating rapalas (2 – 3 1/2 inches)
if you need any other advice you can ask me a question and I will do the best I can for you. hope I can help you catch a lot of fish!
