bait for freshwater fishing?
Hi:
Can someone please let me know what is the best bait to use for the following fresh water fish:Largemouth Bass, Chain Pickerel,Bluegill,Pumpkinseed Black Crappie,White Perch,Carp,
Brown Bullhead,American Eel. I’ve gone fishing plenty of times but used always the nightcrawler, just wondering if there is anything better..
Thank you
Alex

A very broad question that could have thousands of answers. I personally perfer fly fishing. No need to keep fresh bait. Plenty of action just “casting’ the fly and can be more effective than live bait if conditions are right.
Yes, I would choose one out of your list and study and master that one before moving on… alot depends on which type of fish, the cover type you are fishing in (i.e. rip-rap, brush), the depth, the weather, the fish’s mood etc etc…
For me, I’ve had *some* success with fishing largemouths from the shore with medium diving crankbaits (color depending on the water condition… stained water-use a brighter color, clear water-use a more natural color)… but that’s here in north Texas… that may not work for you in your area… get with local fishermen and ask them… ask questions at your local bait shop… etc etc…
bass and pickeral try a live shiner!
bluegill and other sunfish try crickets or waxworms!
Crappie a small fathead minnow or tube bait!
White perch always eat my soft craws, lol!
Carp try corn or a dough bait!
Bullheads shad guts!
Eel they eat our craws and live shiners!
Easy answer–grasshoppers. They all love them. Crickets would also work.
Worms would work also bread will work and fake lil fish will work to try and catch big fish
if you want 2 catch sucker i would say cuminacondom
