  • Live to Fish:

Cranbaits like rapalas etc over weedbeds, around submerged wood (you will snag a few times) points
rock piles, stumps, the edges of lilly pads, bends in creek channels.

Depends on the water, but I have uncanny luck with Bass Stopper purple worm. Anise scent, but not the weedless, it messes with the action. They will bite on this when all else fails. Happy fishing!

Best hard baits for large mouth bass right now in my opinion would be Rapala X-raps sizes 6, 8, and 10, in olive green, and rainbow trout colors. Or the BBZ 4 inch shad in natural shad color, floating, or slow sinking versions. The bbz shad is kind of pricey at $20-25 bucks a pop, but well worth it, make sure you use heavy line because some big bass are going to smack that thing, and im sure peacock bass will to. Koppers Live Target Bluegill and Pumpkinseed crank baits will work fairly well after the sunfish spawn, and i do believe they come with Daiichi hooks, which are sharp as ssshit! 4-6 inch plastic night crawlers/stick worms rigged wacky or texas style (with no weight) work very well also. When using the X-raps cast em’ out crank a few times then jerk, jerk, pause, repeat all the way back to you, sometimes you’ll have to figure out a different retrieve cadence if they don’t hit on the jerk jerk pause. Look for large mouth to be shallow this time of year, especially around any docks, weeds, rocks, logs, and big blown down trees, or trees/branches hanging over the water just above the surface (big bass love overhangs). Sorry i don’t know very much at all about fishing for peacock bass. On tv Jimmy Houston was fishing for peacock bass back in little protected cove areas with allot of over hangs, and he was using Zara Puppies, and Jr. Spooks and he was rippin em’ left and right. Good luck, hope this helps!
