Can I feed emerald ash bores to my largemouth bass?

I want to make sure they don’t have any toxins or anything that will harm my pet bass.

  • J:

An Emerald Ash Borer won’t poison your fish, but please make sure it’s dead before you throw it to your fish so it won’t get away and reproduce.

  • B.J.:

Emerald Ash Borers are exotic beetles that were discovered in southeastern Michigan near Detroit in the summer of 2002. The adult beetles nibble on ash foliage but cause little damage. The larvae feed on the inner bark of ash trees, disrupting the tree’s ability to transport water and nutrients. Emerald ash borers probably arrived in the United States on solid wood packing material carried in cargo ships or airplanes originating in its native Asia.

According to the information that I read, Ash Borers have no toxins because all they eat is wood. They wipe out a lot of trees. So I suppose if the trees you are getting them from is ok and not rotten or anything, your bass should stay nice and healthy and enjoy their meal!
