Do i have to feed largemouth bass live fish?

Hello,
I have a largemouth bass about 4 inches that is in a 50 gallon tank. I am very sensitive to my bass eating live fish its sad to me and i would like to know if there is an exception. Is there?
What about crickets? Or
Nightcwawlers!

If its sad that your fish is eating live animals, what about you keeping a live animal under very cruel conditions? Largemouth bass are river fish. If you keep one in a tank, you should have at least 300-400 gallons MINIMUM for him.

If he will eat pellets or anything, you could feed him that. But most likely, you just caught him and put him in a tank. He wont eat commercial foods most likely because he is used to eating other fish, and insects. You could try nightcrawlers. But as he grows, he will need something other than that. But, in a 50 gallon, he wont live very long…

Hmmm, you can try larger worms and similar insects but they really would prefer live fish. As he gets bigger you’ll have to feed him large fish in order to keep him feed. These guys usually do best with other large mouth bass, but in your tank I wouldn’t recomend another. These guys grow fast, and you’ll soon be looking for somehting larger just for this guy! They need a high protein diet, however this encourages them to grow bigger faster.
    Best of Luck!

you do know that it’s a federal offense when you capture wildlife without a permit right?

My son had a peacock large mouth bass. It grew to about 2′ long.
It was fed TetraCichlid Jumbo Sticks. Then my son started feeding him the Hikari Cichlid Gold and Cichlid Staple large floating pellets, After that, it wouldn’t eat the jumbo sticks anymore lol. Guess he liked the pellets better. If the fish is smaller, the pellets come in 4 sizes. He also fed it those frozen worms you can get at the pet stores.
And no, he didn’t catch it in the wild. He got it an an exotic fish store, in case anyone is wondering.
If you feed it “feeder fish” or any other live fish, you’re taking a chance of introducing any disease the fish might have or be carrying, so it’s best not to feed it that.
