    stink bait recipes

My Dad used to make stink bait for fishing. He took a 5 gallon can, put a gallon of chicken guts, a couple gallons of rotten milk, a couple of cans of condensed milk, a gallon of blood from the local slaughter house, several pounds of beef melt, several pounds of corn meal, and sometimes a little garlic.

He punched a little hole (1/8th) inch in the lid, put the lid on and buried it about 100 yards from the house in a wheat field. He would leave it in the ground for 3-4 weeks. He always put a short stick next to it so that it could be located later. After a couple of weeks the stick was not necessary. The smell was so strong that it could be located by smell. It was really stink bait.

I always thought he had a lot of courage to reach into that stinky mess to bait hooks on bank lines and trott lines. He did catch the fish too. Try it it works!!!!!

some baits for catching cats are shad, cutbait, chicken livers, catalpa worms, nightcrawlers, bream, redworms. Some good lures for catching bass are spinnerbaits, crankbaits, artificial worms, lures and sevceral orher types of artificial baits.

  • Spring Turkey:

Catfish love nightcrawlers. Bass love shinners. I sometime have fished for both at the same time using the same bait in different ways.

Bass are attracted to the shinners swimming around. The shinners will sometimes die before caught. I change rods with these and hook the dead shinner sometimes cut a little and fish the bottoms for cat.

the best results I have had with bass are these rubber shad that are 3″ and lime green with white. Don’t recall the name, got them at Wal-Mart. they have been consistently great!

catfish will eat anything that’s smaller than them you can even catch them while pike fishing coz they are just giant under water vacume cleaners.

a good lure would be abu toby lures in a range of colors and sizes, in britain people use them for pike, zander, perch, bass basicly almost all predatry fish.

Hope you can get the lures.

Nitro Nightcrawlers, chicklivers and dead river chubs for catfish. The old fashioned black rubber worm for largemouth. I have found that in the spring, the bass hit the Berkley’s Powerbait 8″ worm, black and chartruse. In the summer I fish a white Moss Mouse on the top. That’s the fun way to catch largemouths.

hey, i was in the walmarts today and i saw a lure for catfish that i havent tried but it was very eye catching and i am going to pick it up the next time that i am up there. it was a treble hook with a plastic looking piece on the shaft of the hook. the piece looked like a piece of stink bait molded to the hook. sold seperaty from the hook is a tube of bait/scent/stink bait that gets squirted into the plastic piece on the hook. i am not too sure what the name if it was gou it stood out to me from all the other different catfish baits. if you can’t find that use the tink bait dough that is made of shrimp and chicken blood. that is the best dough bait that i have found. if you don’t want dough use chicken liver or gizzards..gizzards stay on better than liver but the liver is a better attractant. if you look for that bait that i described go ahead and get it and try it and then tell me if it works or not….hope that helps

Catfish: Sucker minnows….contrary to popular myth, cats love live bait best.

Bass: Start with a spinnerbait to find them, then perhaps a crankbait or plastic ….

  • PETER J:

i use stink bait, either the “links” or the paste in the jar; cut bait, such as shad; large minnows that cannot swim well, and a glob of ‘crawlers, either on the bottom with sinkers, or suspended under a float. for bass, you can use lures that stay on top of the water, dive, or sink; plastic worms rigged just about anyway you want, minnows on a hook below the bobber. try watching “versus” or “outdoor channel” for more info. there are a lot of fishing magazines that specialize in different species– “in-fisherman” is a multi-species magazine

berkely gulp corn is good for crappie trout and carp

  • birdman:

For catfish alot of people use bream or crappie. For bass you won’t go wrong with zoom lizards.
