Good bait for largemouth bass?
VeI’ve started ice fishing this winter on my lake, and I have been very succesful so far. I’ve gone about five times so far and hav caught close to 20 pickeral and bass each time. They are all decent sized, but I am starting to want to go after bigger fish. The bass in my lake fan get up to like 15 pounds, and I was wondering if I should use different equipment for such big fish. Right now I’ve got 5 tip-ups, with regular string and hooks and one jig rod that I havnt tried using yet. The bait I use is small to medium minnows. Am I fine with what I have now, should I get different equipment, or should I start catching small sunnies and using them as bait?

small red and white dare devil
Try a LIVE eight to ten-inch shiner.
I agree with Basser. Use large minnows and shad if you can get ahold of them. Even better, get you some Bluegills. If I were you I’d go and first try catching me a decent amount of Bluegills and have them handy. You could probably throw you things like Crappie jigs and grubs and get enough Bluegills to last you throghout the day. There’s a lot of monster Bass pulled out durring the winter and most come on big bulky baits like half ounce jigs, big swimbaits, and large plastics. So yeah, size up your bait and generally you’ll find the big Bass that you are looking for this time of year.
wel i cant tell you much for icefishing.but for regular fishing.big bait means big fish.your not going to throw a a 3ounce bait out and catch a lil bluegail tht doesnt happen .i use crnak baits for bass.and spinner and buzz baits.those are my favorite baits that i wil use.they are easy to rig and there not much to it and you catch a good amount of bass on them.rather then rigging up your stufff like the guy in the boat next to me.and me the 14 kid is cathin large mouths while hes fixing his rod.thats why i just put a swivel on and a crankbait and fish.i use 4,5 foot and 6,8.foot.they both work good for bass i have cuaght many catfish on them two.i would suggest to put a crank bait on and reel in slowly and let it do the work.you will find technices that will work for you.just like every fisherman does.good luck sorry i didnt have much to say on ice fishing.i would use a jig for ice fishing
