how big is a trophy size largemouth bass in mn?
i was up at my cabin two days ago and caught about a 5 1/2 lb about 15 inches long largemouth bass. I threw it back so i didnt know if i should be regretting something right now.

Well, a 5 1/2-6 LB Bass will be closer to 19-20″. If he was only 15″ the most he would have weighed would be about 2 LB’s.
A MN trophy Bass would be anything over 6-7LB’s. After all, the state record is 8LB 15OZ.
Hope this helps ya? Good fishing.
in minnesota where the lakes freeze over the bass is growth stunted I like every other fisherman have had short fat fish and long skinny ones as well. I have had great success in Minnesota and caught many over five there and they aren’t long fish but they are sure a lot of fun to catch. Have you fished the submerged diamond shaped rock pile in the southwest area of lake calhoun yet? There are plenty largemouth bedding in that area around the end of June through the middle of July. Never be disappointed about releasing a fish of any size. Be regretful only if you kill one unnecessarily.
Up in the north country I would say 5 pounds and up is a real big bass.
