any rod can catch almost any fish. if i had to choose one rod to catch all these fish I’d go with a 6’6 medium action rod with 10lb test and a nice setup on my drag. just about in the middle of what i regularly use for those species.

I’m an accomplished fisherman and i use a 6’0 medium action rod with 110yd of 8lb test line to catch all those fish except the stripers which put up a tremendous fight and get very large so I’d go with at least a 7’0 heavy action rod and 20lb test line I say this because stripers get to 50lb+.

  • Fishing Master:

    any rod will work
i fishing 4 days a week every week for about 5 hours and i always nail bass with a 6′ medium action rod
although with striped bass the put up a huge fight so i would go with 7′ rod heavy action

you want a rod that doesn’t bend to much with about 25 lb line on any size rod can catch a fish it just has to be a strong rod for bass and also depends where your fishing from use a beach caster for casting off a beach or a boat rod for boat

This is my FAVORITE all around bass fishing rod. It is 1-piece, 6’6″ heavy action, with a killer open reel seat, 12 lb. test line, 2-3 lb. drag for starters on a Viento reel makes this a killer combo!

It has caught many smallmouth and largemouth bass, but no stripers yet, but I have faith that it would hold up just fine under a striper hit.

Although I had a friend slay ‘em and educate us, with a 4′ spinning rod and reel combo, just fishing weightless Senkos.

Even my daughter’s Songe Bob and Scooby poles catch fish, but they would snap if a striper hit on a tight drag.
