How Come Bullhead Catfsih Only Come Out At Night?

Ive been fishing at this pound for like 4 years and ive caught largemouth bass , sunfish , bluegill , perch , carp , silver bass , catfish , bullhead , rockbass , crawfish & turtles and the only time i catch bullhead catfish is around night why is that. The bait i use is i make it myself it’s flour , cheese , mustard , cinnamon , salt & sometimes garlic powder. But my question is why do bullhead catfish come out at night.

    They are vampires!

I believe that is the best time they can use their senses to their full effect. At night prey would be more vunerable, since the bullheads has a high sense of smell and their prey usually dont. The bullheads dont have much of a sense of sight compared to their prey so they will be at a disadvantage during the day. Feeding at night also protects them from predators such as hawks, heron, gar, and etc. At night some of their prey come alive such as crayfish in particular. Also at night they have less competition from other predators. I hope this helps

Actually I have caught them during the day. I seem to catch them more in creeks and rivers when the water is high because they tend to feed shallow while at the same time getting out of the currently. I fished a pond like you talk about that had a few and we would catch them during all times of the day. So I am not for sure what to tell you. This is just my experience. Flatheads are known for feeding more of a night than blues. So it has something to do with feeding patterns.
