I need some need brands of lures to use for largemouth?

I fish on a private lake that is 88 acres in southern michigan and has little boat traffic. The max motor size is 25 hp. The bass are very picky here. The are a ton of lily pads and hydrilla and grass.

I want to try out different brands of lures and want to see how they work. Any suggestions on what to use?

these are what i use already:
yum dinger
yum tubes
yamasenko
powerbait power worm
rapalas
strike king spinnerbaits and buzzbaits
booyah buzz and spinnerbaits
Gulp! stuff
yum! sweet cheeks swim baits
wild eye swim baits
captian mick swim baits
all bomber lures
yum crawdads
rooster tails

You have quite a selection there! I love fishing & Bass is my favorite because they are a challenge. Try using Mann’s jelly worms, they’ve worked well for me. Good luck & happy fishing!

Try Zoom Soft Plastics…That is all that I use…I have friends that use Yum and Zoom out fishes them three to one…They have many different types and hundreds of colors…Zoom makes a “Horny Toad” that works good, but I prefer the Sizmic Toad…it is made in North Alabama and works great…a good crankbait is made by Suddeth it is called the “Little Earl”…it is an outstanding crankbait…Ledge Buster spinner baits work good too…I fish in a club, so I fish all the time on big lakes here in Georgia and Alabama and these are the types of baits I use…good colors for the Zooms are Green pumpkin, pumpkin, junebug, and watermelon seed…all these baits can be ordered off the internet…just put them in your google…good luck and “Rip Their Lips Off!!”…

    Edit:
Also try a scent called “Kickin Bass” it is amazing…oh yea and I am not sponered by any of these companies (Actually I am not sponsered at all…lol =( )…just use their stuff…

good search lure that i use allot if a rattling rapala. its a great search lure often overlooked by most fishermen and it catches bass, walleye, pike, musky, and most other game fish. i like it allot because its about the noisiest lure u could use =P.

I fish in North-central Alabama so Michigan is pretty foreign to me. However, you said there were lily pads and those are some of my favorite structures to fish. Find a brand of frog called Scum Frog. They have all different kinds like regular and popping frogs, but since you said that the bass are picky, I’d take a bet that they are skittish also. So I would recommend a regular scum frog instead of a popping frog. Just throw it out right next to the lily pads, and let it sit there for about 10 or more seconds. You can either jerk it or pull it about 6 inches at a time. It may take a while, but eventually one will annihilate it. This is very important…once the fish has come up and taken the frog, let him take it for about 2 seconds…my general rule of thumb is “crank; crank; jerk”. Reel twice to get rid of slack in the line and then let him have it! Hope this helps you and have fun.

I don’t see jigs on that list. I can’t go bass fishing without them! Do yourself a favor and get a few. Another Michigan angler you might have heard of named Kevin Van Dam uses a shaky head jig (use these heads: http://stores.ebay.com/Bassdozer-Store_W0QQfsubZ19QQtZkm ) with a Strike King 3xxx straight tail worm. Light visible colors in clear water, dark in stained to murky water. Fish them on 7′ medium spinning tackle and 8lb fluorocarbon. Fish along edges of pads and hydrilla and over rocky bottoms. Next thing you know you will be the next ‘big time’ Michigan angler.

    Good fishin’ friend!

I use allot of the same brands you use, those cover almost all the lures I use you have listed. A few more lures I would recommend would defiantly be a rattle trap, you should be able to tear it up out there with one. A second would be a lure Brandon recommended, it’s the Heddon Pop’n Image-http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_18578_100005003_100000000_100005000_100-5-3 I caught a bass on my first cast, I got the Tennessee shad color because It has a pink and white belly and that’s what the fish is going to see. One final lure I would recommend is the Bill dance crankbaits I always tear it up in shallow water with these. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44337_100005001_100000000_100005000_100-5-1

    Good luck

Exert is right , you need some jigs. Eric is right those Bill Dance cranks work!

Ingun where do you get Creek Critter baits? Are they “Hand-poured”, “salt-impregnated”, “boutique-colors”? I’m stuck in the woods of MN, so they would have to be stocked at a Gander Mt or , maybe, my local guy could get some. Website?

    Cool Q SBF!

    here’s some San Diego favorites:
    -Huddleston trout swimbaits
    -Mattlures swimbaits
    -Roboworm
    -Gary Yamamoto’s Ika and Senko
    -12″ texas rigged plastic worms
    -jigs, black and white

it’s beneficial to lubricate your swimbaits with scents like:
    -Hot Sauce
-Unibutter (sea urchin roe, originally for saltwater but works well in fresh as well)

some of these were designed locally, and sd lakes are heavily pressured. imagine how they would work in less pressured lakes in other places.

For your spinnerbait you need to use a WarEagle there is no other spinnerbait on the market they are the best.

For a crankbait try a bandit they are probably the best on the market.

I see you throw worms and swim baits. Try to use a Yamamoto Hula Grub on a jig head. ( it is a twintail skirted grub)

You say lots of grass try to swim a jig & frog through the grass bass love it.

Good luck. War Eagle makes spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and jigs the best on market.
