If i was going to feed a largemouth bass pellets, which type would i buy?
Buying him 20 goldfish a week is getting a tad expensive…so i’m just going to go pick up a jar of hikari or something. What variety?

dry dog food pellets work good all so.get whats cheapist
hikari pellets for oscars would probably work well, but they will be almost as expensive as the goldfish.
catch some minnows or small sunfish to feed it. it will also enjoy crayfish.
if you can locate any hatcheries in your area, you may be able to purchase feed from them.
hatchery fish are fed pelletted chow, usually made by purina, whether they are bass, trout, catfish or whatever. many feed and grain stores carry this stuff.
this answer doesn’t necessarily mean l agree with keeping a bass in a tank, but they still need quality food.
and remember, your buddy in the tank DOES count against your limit…
Why in god’s name are you keeping a largemouth bass as a pet? I’m no animal rights activist or anything, but you should find a small pond, release him in there, and you can catch him over and over again. And the best part is you won’t have to feed the fish any more. Everybody wins!!!
I don’t think you are going to educate your bass into thinking it is a trout so it will become a pellet eater instead of the fish it has always been…one that prefers LIVE bait in the form of minnows, nightcrawlers, crayfish, etc. But let me do the math….feeder gold fish cost 10 cents a piece, so that times 20 adds up to 2 bucks a week times 52 weeks….uh….$104.00 a year? You can’t afford that? Then you can’t afford to PROPERLY keep a largemouth bass in the manner to which it is accustomed. Therefore, the ONLY advice that is any good for the bass who’s priority rates higher than your own is to let it go where it can take care of its own self. In his place, raise the 20 gold fish. You’ll be surprised how big they will get eating those pellets in just a few years time. My son bought one for 10 cents and four years later sold it for $75.00. Now THAT is something you CAN afford. Right?
