largemouth bass (how to catch them)?
i fish a private pond in south G.A. i cought 8 bass in the morning in late march but no luck sence then only 1 i fish often i need to know how to fish a spinner bait ! i also want to know if fishing the banks are good or should i fish the bottom?i reel a spinner fast on the top not working for me at all . the only thing i had luck with was a fake fish made of jelly.i think it was a fluke that morning thoughhaha.the pond is 15 foot deep in the center and about 200 foot by 150 maybe clear water, also inhabited by catfish and carp.

Well with spinnerbaits you need to cast them paralell to the banks and retrive just above grass beds and around structure. You can also fish the deep parts as well . Try a steady retrieve and a slight pause in your retrieve. Try slowing the spinnerbait down so its a couple feet off the bottom instead of on top.
Being the water is clear I would recommend light colors like white or shad/silver colors. You might try a rattle trap or crankbait as well . or some plastics like worms etc.
Also try topwater plugs early in the morning and late evening . If you can night fish it that is great as well. Being its clear water the bass might be spooky but they are not as spooky at night. At night use black topwater plugs like a jitterbug etc.
Keep trying different things till you find what they are hitting
If all else fails try live bait like shiners or minnows

You might find this article very informative. It’s about post-spawn bass fishing and using spinnerbaits.

i am not bragging but i fish alot of ponds where the fish get used to people and wont bite didely ,no joke my lure called the original dandee worm is one of the hottest pond baits
u need to try rubber baits jigs ratle-traps top waters find what those fish inpetecular like
sunny days – fish shady side of cover (trees, bushes, docks) with worms or jigs .
cloudy days try spinner baits and shallow crank baits shallow then move to deeper water near cover.
rain days in summer – throw dark buzz baits and just keep it on top near cover and shorelines.
something to start with.
Several good suggestions above…….but one thing that you could try is a rubber frog. Be sure to get a good quality one like a Moss Boss etc. Fish it along the bank just a little ways out in the water. These lures are weedless so don’t be afraid to throw it into cattails or along mossy areas. Topwater fishing is the most intense type of fishing there is. When the bass “blows up” on the frog you have to wait a split second before you set the hook or you will pull it out of its mouth without a hookup. It will take a little patience to get it right but once you get the hang of it then seeing a big bass take a frog off the top is a sight you won’t forget. Also you might consider putting a braided line on the rod and reel that you are going to use the frog on. The abrasion resistance of braided line will help you get a fish out of heavy cover. I recommend the Powerpro brand, it is comparable to SpiderWire and it costs a little less. Just cast the frog out and let it sit there for a while (until the rings in the water go away). Then just twitch it a bit………vary your retrieve and hang on………if there is a “hawg” in there it will find your frog. One more thing to think about is the way you approach your pond. Since it is a private pond and there is probably not a lot of activity around it you need to be a little stealthy about the way you walk up to it. Try to not let your shadow fall on the water and dont stomp around the edge. If you are going to move around the edge, walk away from the water to your next spot and then approach the water quietly again.
