Not truly a Q and will probably be deleted, but there is the infomation.
Don’t any body on here bother to do a search for previous questions asked, so there are not so many repeated questions on the subject. Such as.
What is the best bait for bass
How do you spool a bait caster, or spinning reel.
ctknight9- you did what a lot of them on here should be doing….that is exactly my point, and you found some answers.
Thank you for showing how easy it is and maybe we will stop getting all these ridiculous repeated questions.

There is not enough space in any blog to answer this question. Try investing in a BASS subscription. There are endless variations of species, location, season, weather, time of day, moon phase etc. This subject has spawned many books and periodicals.

I feel your pain! When I have been asked that question, I usually went off on water conditions, weather, local bait fish types, type and depth of cover… When their eyes started to glaze over, I knew I had made my point.

    Totally agree with you Golden!

I’ve answered the same Q so many times it becomes a “chore” trying to help someone out!(lol)

I love coming to YAnswer and help people get the hang of fishing, (because I believe fishing is a fantastic sport & hobby and if I can’t GO fishing everyday at least I can chat with people who love it as much as I do! lol).

And most repeat Q come from newbie fishermen who need help.

HOWEVER, these newbies need to research thouroughly before asking basic Q that most any fishing book/website will answer!

It’s sad to see anyone interested in ANYTHING , and not be willing to take an hour or 6 to learn “the basics”.

I figure alot of people asking these “most basic” Q are newbies OR people trying out the “fishing category” for the first time.???

In any regard, I totally understand your position and agree!

Hold on now, jist one thing that I think I need to know.
Your avatar, it looks like your giving/getting a high five from your dog? But how did you get the dog to turn his/her paw upside down? Or did you jist load the pic that way? Great photo anywho!

PS. Boring! Answering the same old Q’s, day in day out is completely boring. Although I’ve had some success at describing how to fillet a fish, or trying out a different technique on the same old gear. and I have actually gotten a few thankyou’s from some of the newbie’s that are doing their homework here as well as at the stores, but the majority of it comes from folks that are more computer literate than street smart. Now me, I’m new at all of this typing stuff, the typing I learned as a freshman in highschool was a required 9 week course, ( figured that I wouldn’t need it spinning wrenches, and holding an M – 16, while being in the Army, damn, wasn’t I a dummy) and I never did really get the hang of it, so I type most of my stuff right – handed, via the hunt and peck technique, but other than a few personal twists to the language, I try to keep it spelled right.
Well, enough of that, like I said,
    Goodluck & Good fishing

you have the largest sorce of info at your finger tips so i would start looking there and then i would go into a tackle shop and ask them. in my own mind i would have a plan on tactics, bait and location. in this case knowing a bass is a predator i would opt for lures or a live/dead bait and fish close to over grown vegitation, trees and rocky out crops.

  • beangreen:

there is no best bait for bass
not even in one given lake
    something different always works

How do you pick the best bait when going fishing for bass?

Well, it’s a well known fact that male bass and female bass behave differently. Post -spawn females are more attracted to slimmer baits and feel the need to excercise so they will readily chase the smaller morsel while post spawn male bass will likely be attracted to pork products dangled in front of them so they don’t have to move too much.

    Sorry Golden…just couldn’t help it ; > )

People seem to want every thing handed to them, no one seems able to research it themselves, it gives suggestions as to other questions of the same type yet they are ignored, something that seems very wrong with the world today. I don’t mind helping people new to the sport but some of the questions could be found by looking on the Internet, we have all got to learn but i also like to answer questions by the more well educated fisherman/woman on more difficult things or new gear.

  • exert-7:

Geez, that’s simple enough…a plastic worm or a jig/craw. While that generic answer holds true about 90% of the time, knowing where and when to use them is the key that unlocks the door. It would be nice if we could write a few sentences and have the reader learn all there is to know about fishing, but it has taken me over 4 decades to learn the little I know and while I enjoy passing on the tips and tricks that have been handed down to me, you still have to put in time on the water to improve (notice I didn’t say perfect) these skills until they become like second nature. I noticed another question posted about “How do I walk the dog?”….well, it would be close to impossible for anyone to learn this technique from reading a response and 1 hour on the water with someone to show you how would greatly shorten the learning curve.
I appreciated the effort all the regulars put in here helping others…but do you think you could tell me what is the best way to hunt moose or skin a cat? Please feel free to email your answers.

Just did a quick search and that question has been asked here in one form or another 570 times. I can’t even think of over 5 different ways to ask that question.
