Tips for catching Largemouth on hard bait???

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips i could use for catching largemouth bass on hard bait. I watch my father and his friends catch 3 pounders almost every time i go out but i never seem to get anything. Ive got almost every type of rapala lure and several times of zara spook topwater baits along with an arsenal of spinner baits. I have caught alot of fish on cranckbaits but never LMB. Any tips could help.

Some advice I can offer is making sure you are not reeling to fast or to slow. bass are pretty smart and lure speed plays a big role in catching them. I would also suggest pausing during your retrieve for your some of your hardbaits for a quick amount of time. Have you tried putting a long worm on your spinnerbait? that setup usually never fails for me when i am seeking LMB.

First of all I suggest you begin your education on hard baits by fishing a rattle trap. Smaller lure for shallower water and larger lures as water is deeper. Play with the speed with which you retreive the lure also. This type lure is easy to fish and is great lure to pick up some things you will notice that work and dont work while you use it. Then try other baits and apply to them what you learn from using this bait.
