purple worms with the curly tails always got good strikes for me and my ex-husband
spinners all the way
depends, when in ultra clear lakes you want realistic looking lures such as those storm wildeyes, or live bait, in medium visibility you want somthing with action, smell, and looks such as a berkely powrbait or senko a lipless ratleing crankbait such as a ratl trap or rattling rap isnt bad either , ( i prefer BPS stick things) and for ultra low vis you want something that makes a lot of noise, comotion and/or smells like powerbait, livebait, spinners poppers, rattlers, ect.
There is not one, due to all the different conditions….Water Temp., clarity, weather conditions, time of year, part of the country you are in, low land reservoir, high land reservoir, natural lake, weeds, etc. etc., etc.
I”ve had really good luck with black worns with pink tails, made out of Berkley Powerbait.
there are too many variables to decide a consensus best. water temp, murkiness, depth, time of day, time of year, etc… the most successful for me can be broken up by time of day.
these colors refer to Mr.twisters
morning/afternoon=motor oil and black
evening/night=pearl white and yellow
a versatile color is chartreuse. it is sort of lime green. go to google and enter chartreuse and see for your self.
top water jitterbugs work for me as well. anything that imitates a minnow works as well.
live in western PA, and damn proud of it < ((((><
best bait: night crawlers
best lure: a lot of choices but topwater fishin is the most fun (and explosive) way to catch em
my opinion for the best all around lure would be the texas rigged senko
Live shiners over all!
After that comes the soft plastic worm!
the best luck i ever had was with live grasshoppers.
i like senkos (wacky and texas rigged), shad patterned crankbaits (Rapala DT, Rattle Trap, etc.), Zoom Flukes, Hulla Poppers, spinnerbaits, etc.
Definately depends on a few things. Weather, water clarity, the structure you are fishing. But for a start, right now is prime time for topwater lures. Buzzbaits and frogs are big bass magnets early morning and at dusk. In between a black and blue jig with a blue trailer, and red shad worms. These will catch fish on bottom when the sun is high and hot. Good luck.
