just about any type of bait works
whatever you are confident with
many baits and lures will work, anything from Carolina rigged nightcrawlers to plastic swim baits, and topwater lures, even small bait fish such as shad, check the regs in your area to be sure you can use live bait such as shad or crawdads
There is no one bait.
The best bait would be live sunfish/bluegill/or shad fly lined(no sinker). Just cast out the live bait hooked through the mouth or top fin, and give it slack to run so that it looks lively to predatorial bass. This always works. Good Luck!
You should try fly fishing and try some different flies.
they will hit just about anything
Since most ponds have bluegills in them, use a bait that looks like one. Fat crankbaits such as the Bagley’s Balsa B will work. Also try spinnerbaits as they look like a small school of baitfish to a bass. Some people have the patience to use plastic worms and they can be deadly. A big jig with a trailer plastic/porkrind will also catch fish. And of course any live bait will also work, but you may also catch undesirables.
get you a fish colored rat-l-trap,or a white spinner bait.those two will get them.
try a pumpkin seed lizard carolina rigged. I always find myself going back to this when I’m pond fishing. Work is slowly off of the bottom and any structure that might be there. If i am fishing around structure, I’ll bury the hook in the back of the lizard to keep from getting hung up so much. Just be ready to set the hook hard.
where i live ( Lake Okeechobee ), if you wanted just 1 bait & you, just HAD to catch a bass & you were fishing in a pond i would suggest Shiners
Shad, comes a close second
use the natural baits in the area in which you want to fish
it all depends on the wether and what works best in that pond
good luck
well I think the best bait for largemouth bass would be plastic worms. you can hook them in many different ways and styles. also you should try fishing with flies. no you don’t need a fly rod. just attach a bass fly (you can buy one at Joes or any fishing dealer) to your line and add a 1/3 split shot a foot from the fly and cast OR troll.
Something you can try is to take a fishing rod set up just to catch small perch for bait. We would catch big big bass, channel cats, crappie, you never knew what was going to hit.Minnows worked well too but it seemed perch would catch the bigger fish.
