What is the least amount of weight that you would mount a largemouth bass?

I caught a 6 pounder the other day, and was wondering if I should have kept it and gotten it mounted, or did the right thing and waited for a larger bass.

I would not mount anything under 10 LB’s if caught in the South.

I would not mount anything under 8LB’s in the North.

the size isn’t as important as the memory, was it your most memorable one,or the biggest you ever caught,or the best proportioned.I would mount the fish based on what it meant more than it;s weight.Five and a half would be my low limit,I release them all and photograph them, you can get a copy in fiberglass made if you have a photo to copy it from. They don’t need the actual fish anymore. They use molds of common sizes to conserve them.

I would not mount any fish I caught I don’t care how big it is.
Take pictures, measurements and have a DUPLICATE made.
Other than that no less than 10lbs.

If you live way up in Michigan or somewhere far north, 6lbs. is okay.

A 6 pounder is a pretty big fish in some waters. I caught a 2 pounder near Philly once, and my kids thought it was a monster! For those waters – it was!

Golden Feather is right have a mount made and release the fish. If you don’t have a tape measure handy you can take 2 pieces of line and cut to the length of the fish and one for the girth at the belly. Take a few close up shots of the markings and let the fish go. I have seen some of these mounts and they are works of art. You have a mount of the fish and it’s still swimming about.

Anything over 12lbs 1oz…I already have one of those on my wall…I would have had a Fiberglass Replica made, like Golden Feather mentioned, but at the time a SGT in the Army didn’t make that type of money…=)

Oh yea Golden Feather and Fisher…I finished 5th in the my Tournament on Saturday…thanks for the advise…
