hey man, my favorite rod and reel set up that i use for bass is a phlugher president series spinner reel and a 6’6″ medium action shakespear ugly stick. this set up isn’t an expensive one like most people swear you have to have but it is a great reel and rod. i have caught small sunnies to stingrays and a 5 foot black tip shark and a 20 plus pound cat last summer. it is a great set up. i hope this helps you out a little good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

reel—take a look and aint it pretty

6’6″ flipping stick,i use bass pro brand xps,in a medium heavy action
quantum low profile reel spooled with 20# trilene xt.
my favorite lure for this is a zoom or berkley power bait 4″ tube.(color is tbd by water, but i like green pumpkin and watermelon colors).i put a jingle bell up inside the tube before i rig it with a hook(works like a rattle on a jig).
i like to find laydown and stumps, rock ledges with overhangs on them.
and then i flip flip and flip,or pitch pitch and pitch

I use a Abu Garcia Revo STX 7.1:1 ratio on an 7’0″ All Star medium heavy rod. I spool my reel with 12lb Bass Pro XPS florocarbon. This is one of six rods I use but is my favorite. I use to flip and pitch and for soft plastics. When I go to Florida I put on 50lb braid.

my personal one favorite out of several is my team daiwa tdx 103pia reel on a fairly light 6 foot phenix boron rod rated 8 to 15 lb lines. l use 8lb.
the reel is not a high speed one. l think it’s a 5 or 6 to 1 ratio. but it will still reel fast when needed. l just turn the handle faster.

St. Croix Mojo Bass Rod (spinning), 6’8 Medium action, extra fast rod, 1 piece.

Pflueger President XT Spinning reel, 5:2 gear ratio, holds 195 yards of 10 lb line.

Also, i would use 10 lb. Berkley Trilene XT Smooth Cast monofilament.
