depends on the conditions….but the best luck I have had is with a rubber worm…Carolina rig….you can look that up on the internet if you don’t know that….
Heddon Torpedo Lure, everyone knows that
The most popular & versatile lure would be a “stand-off” between a 6-8 Inch worm and a 3-5 inch jig.
I’m going with the Berkley 6 inch “Power-worm”.
I’m using a Denny Brauer 1/2- or 3/4-oz jig, depending on the water depth. If I’m fishing in 12 feet or less, I fish a 1/2-ounce jig. If I’m fishing deeper than that, I use a 3/4-ounce jig. The main reason I’m using the heavier jig in the deeper water is so that I can make sure the jig stays on the bottom and that I can feel the bottom. The size of the trailer varies depending on how active the bass are. If the bass are fairly inactive, I’ll be fishing a Strike King Denny Brauer Chunk Trailer. If the bass are more active, I want a Strike King Split Tail Trailer. This puts a lot of action on the back of the jig.
I bought a bleeding crawdad Touchdown worm. It’s about 6″ long, comes pre-rigged with two weedless hooks, and is pre-bent for more action. They’re real cheap and can be bought at any Wal-Mart. If you can’t find them at your Wal-Mart, check out their webiste: http://www.touchdownlures.com. They’re a family-run business and offer a wide variety of products. The worm, I have found, is best for largemouths. But, I have gotten a few big bluegills and a couple smallmouths. Good luck!
