Where did your biggest Largemouth Bass come from?

Lake, pond, river, creek, etc? Also how big was it? My personal biggest came out of a lake a few years back although most of my better fish in general have came out of ponds and smaller lakes. My biggest was a little over 9 pounds.

My first 8LB Bass came from a small lake on the grounds of the UNF college. Caught her with a 7″ Motor-oil, Berkley Power-Worm, rigged Texas style. (That was like the first year Berkley came out with their line of products. Amazing what catching a nice Bass will do to “sell you” on any given lure! lol)

Since that time I’ve caught 4-5 in the 8LB range, (with various different presentations).

My biggest Bass to date was a 10.14 OZ caught in the Hanna Park public ponds. Got her on 8LB line Crankin’ a Cordell CC Shad.

Although I’ve fished plenty with live bait, (and caught some big Bass in the 8-9LB range), I don’t really count those as “catches”. When you use bait your “cheating”…(lol).

Did you read the article in Bass Master about Manabu Kurita’s world record fish and how he caught it?

You should pick up the new copy of Bass Master. It has an interesting article about catching big bass. You’ll dig it Unmam…….

By the way, your totally right. Generally, my biggest fish have come from smaller lakes, rivers and ponds over massive lakes. Give me a 200-300 acre pond ANY day!

a big 10 or more pound mama from isabela lake a few years ago on a rapala when i paused it for a few seconds. big ones were jumping all over that day in that cove.I usaully dont have luck at big lakes but the water is clear at Isabela which i think helps your chances when lure fishing. small lakes and big ponds are best and maybe even a deep hole in a small stream for smallies and trout.biggest bass i usaully get is in the 5-7 pound range with craw patterns and flukes

Mine came from a pond, and tipped the scales at 8 1/2 lbs. I hate to admit it, but the fish wasn’t NEARLY 8 1/2 lbs, it was much closer to 6 1/2 lbs or 7lbs MAX. I caught it with a small 1/4oz Rat-L-Trap, bleeding shiner color in early Spring. I agree that the biggest fish mainly come from ponds.
