Where is the best fishing spot in Chicago is for largemouth bass or other fish?

I would also like your opinion on what bait works best and what kind of line I should use for that location.

I’m visiting Chicago for a few weeks in July and I would like to spend some time fishing.

  • I know for sure:

Chicago itself is not big on inland bass type lakes. There are several forest preserve lakes in nearby suburbs. If you are serious about it you should check out the fox chain or Lake Geneva in WI. The Fox chain gets tremendous boat traffic on weekends and is popular at many types of outdoorsmen.

Standard inland fishing equipment is appropriate.

  • JR:

Close to Chicago-Try Wolf Lake on the Illinois Indiana border. Good bass fishing there.

Don’t mind a 1 hr drive-Try Shabbona Lake in Shabbona IL. By far one of the best Bass fisheries in Northern IL.

    Good Luck.
