Becoming a Pro-angler?

im almost done with high school and need to start choosing a career. ive changed my mind so many times. ive been fishing since i can remember and always enjoy. i dream about being in the pros, becoming like mike iaconelli and van dam. i just need to know how to even get started. i ve heard about doing local tournaments, ive done some for ice fishing, but am horrible at ice fishing so didnt win. i am doing a tournament on a lake i live by this year. just wondering how to get started

    Truth:

    1. There are many Anglers…most don’t make money or even get sponsors.

    2. Its a difficult job which requires alot of time, luck, expect 200 days a year of full time everyday fishing, sponsors events etc.

    3. Like professional sports on a very very small fraction of people get anywhere…even Van DAm only made a few million in a very long and sucessful career.

    Answer: Join a local/ regional bass club….do well…get sponsors.

I don’t think any body on this whole website could be a professional. Not saying that you will not make it, but some of these people have been giving advice on here since i can remember, and great advice, and i wouldn’t even compare them to Iaconelli or Van Dam. (Although i would rather meet one of you Y!A members before Ike.)

You need a nice, big boat.

    A huge, truck.

    A lot of money.
