I started out a very popular fisherman in my town.
    How i started?

    Study.
You need to study the fish and be smart about it. Explaining to people making you are very smart about this. Also, you need to know how to trick the fish.

    Business Cards
You need business cards. Some sites have cheap business cards $5 – $20 for at least 100.

    Website
Create a high tech unique looking website. Explain some of the bait you use and how to make them if you did like dough bait. Explain the best lines, reels, poles, and more.

    Advertise
Tell people about your website, and hopefully you can get sponsored.

    Sponsor
After you get sponsored, you can create a TV show and more.
You’ll make a lot of money, and have a great life.

    Practice
Practice is the most important thing in life. Not only taking chances, you need to fish at least 3 times a week.
I own a lawn mowing company, i mow lawns and stuff but i still go fishing after.

    Have fun, and enjoy tournaments.

You better LOVE fishing and everything that comes with it. You better love going prefishing weeks in advance in places you’ve never seen, you better love staying in hotels away from your family for days at a time, spending money on truck gas, hotels, boat ($40,000) boat gas, tackle, food and entry fee’s all to more than likely come back empty handed. You better love fishing during the week when most people are getting paid to work, you better love riding around scouting water, washing your boat, going home without a check, driving home from Texas Sunday night and doing a charter Monday morning. Being a full time Tournament and Charter fisherman takes commitment and hard work as well as MONEY, you dont just happen upon a sponsor and live happily ever after. But if thats what you want to do in life, go for it and don’t let anyone stop you.

Fish and learn all you can till your 16 when the FLW will let you be a co angler. Then it will be joining the FLW and fishing the events you can get to when school is out. Get to know the ppl, take notes, fish well and often.

In school you will need to be a very good student as you will need the math, the writing skills and ppl skills you learn there. Most of the long term pros I have been on boats with are also very good business men who have companies at home paying the bills. Only a small group make a full time living fishing only so be ready to be a success at something else as well to pay the bills till your on top of the fishing game.

Hope to see you up here in two years fishing on Lake Champlain with us.
