@xEM1N3Mx We love using tube jigs as well – they do work great!
Thanks for writing in and sharing and until next time, good fishing!
#1 best thing to use for smallmouth are Tubes. Tube baits are the BEST thing to use for smallmouth. they represent a crayfish very well. u cast it out, let it sink to the bottom. lift up your rod a little so it looks like a crayfish coming up to get somethin. been smallmouth bass fishin for years and this has worked the best.
@flipsk828 in the spring or early summer, a long thin crank bait would work well, as the bass will be keying in on bait fish.
In the summer, they will tend to eat more crayfish, so a short/fat crank bait would be best.
thanks for writing in & good luck on the water!
in shallow water should i use a big body crankbait or a skinny one?
thanks. im going to try that out tommorrow after church
Try using a shallow diving crank bait, with a short lip. This will work well in shallow water.
Also, anohter good bait to use in shallow water is a spinner bait – you could give that a try also.
Thanks for writing in and good fishing!
alright ive caught a few bass of my xcaliber golden shad. my crankbaits dont work extremely decent for me, but i dont catch over average size smallmouth. im on a dock with water from 2 feet to 8 feet in various parts. what would be a good recommnedation for crankbaits i should use?
Peacock bass will readily take a crank bait , so keep trying!
Peacock bass will hit all of your typical bass baits – including the Viper Spoons, tipped with a worm.
Good luck on the water & good fishign.
haha i just bought 3cranks and no catch
Oya i also wanted to know what is the best bait for peacock bass. please tell me thanks!
Catching Peacock bass must be a lot of fun! Thanks for writing in & good fishing.
Both style lures will work, however you may want to use the floating style lure during early morning & evenings. Use the sinking lure during the rest of the day.
When using the sinking style lure, start your retrieve with your rod tip pointing down, right at the water.
Then as the lure comes closer to shore, start to raise you rod tip to a horizontal position, and then once it is close to shore, raise it to almost a vertical potion.
This will keep you down, but off the rocks. Good fishing
sorry i am catching a peacock bass

We have been busy filming our TV show which is on the Sportsman Channel, and as soon as we have more time, we will be posting more YouTube videos as well.
Regarding the drag setting, make it very tight to start with. This will allow you to set the hook. Then, back off the drag with enough tension to allow the fish to take your line prior to breaking.
Thanks for writing in & good luck on the water!
hey love your vids! Ive caught a lot more bass and walleye with your tips. Im from minnesota so there is plenty of water. As far as your drag goes when catching bass what is a good setting? Or should I just play it as far as the fish goes?
This is great fishing, thanks for the video
