no, you shouldn’t catch fish out of the wild for pets. they are used to having lots of space in their natural habitat, and small mouth bass aren’t going to stay 6in. if you want big, exciting fish, look at these links:

leave the wild fish to public aquariums.
what is your experience with fish?
tell me how long ‘little smallmouth bass’ stay little? because it sounds like they might get bigger, if you feed them and all.
what makes a good pet fish in your opinion? because bass from the wild are not attractive visually, and will probably die in your tank. if this sounds like a good pet to you, than by all means.
if you have the money, buy a 30 gallon tank setup (somewhere around 100 dollars). and buy a freshwater fish from a pet store.
in the meantime, do some reasearch on your own, about pet fish.
No, smallmouth bass do not make good pets. Native freshwater fish such as a smallmouth bass would need a minimum 150 gallon tank with a good cannister filter. You’d also need to mimic a rocky sloped embankment with a lot of plants for a good set-up.
You’re better off leaving the bass in it’s natural environment…
