Around what section of the creek is best for smallies? Is there a stretch with deeper holes?

  • claytonhaske:

where abouts on the walnut are you fishing?

The fish absolutely know the difference. I can look at a crawfish thats hard and one thats soft and tell the difference. I think the fish may be able to do this as well. They do make a living eating crawfish. In my experience the ones that are hard catch about half as many fish. I grew up seining crawfish for my family’s baitshop. I’ve been around harvesting and selling crawfish for about 20 years of my life. The ones you catch will work! Just expect about half the hits.

another quiestion say i go to a lake and catch crawdads would they not work because there not soft?

  • Fishnwithjoe:

In the garage. A boat is a tool. Sometimes you need it sometimes you don’t. You can’t get a big boat into this spot. Waders are the better tool.

Joe, love the smallie stream/creek action. So many people overlook these areas. Very cool video!

  • krissyndjjordan:

Joe were are some good spots around the Cincinnati area?

  • TheBigfishcatcher01:

    GREAT VID

  • Fishnwithjoe:

There isnt a need to clip the claws on the soft ones. After they shed their shells to grow they are soft for a couple of days. That’s the reason why the fish like them so much. The fish can actually tell which ones are soft and which ones are hard as they float by going downstream. Its sounds crazy but, they make a living doing it.
    Thanks for watching and commenting

  • TheZeppelin14:

hey Joe when are you gonna make a saugeye fishing show?

  • Fishnwithjoe:

Live softcraws. Theyre like tiny freshwater lobsters. Theyre soft for a short time when they molt their shells to grow. The fish can’t resist them.
