i’m going fishing for smallmouth bass along a dike in the mississippi, in southeastern minnesota. one technique that i’ve been using has been throwing the original floater from rapala out along the dike, the reeling in swiftly. this technique has worked rather effectively for me, but what are some others i could try?

Live bait under a slip float,Jig and curl tail ,or try tube jigs they all catch allot of smallies. GOOD LUCK and KEEP FISHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the dike has riprap, jigs tipped with crawdad plastics work well for me.
Bumping a deep diving crawdad crank into the bottom works well too.
try twitching it as it floats on top twitch and pause they will bust it
Try fishing a Texas rigged tube bait or grub in the appropriate color.
