Nice size bass?
I was fishing today with some leeches and caught a 21 inch 5.5lb smallmouth bass. Is that fairly large?
It was in Michigan
Ya, in Michigan in a lake…

I would say anything over 5lbs is a nice bass. I would not put it on a plaque or anything like that. But it is a nice fish and you should be proud you caught it. Good Job – Mark
THATS A GOOD SIZE SMALLMOUTH BASS AND DEPENDING ON WHERE IN THE COUNTRY YOU CAUGHT IT, IT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A TROPHY.
No that is huge! In most places a 2 lb bass is considered BIG! I was looking up state records and saw this one.
SmallMouth Bass 8 lbs. 12 oz. Ray Wonacott Columbia River 4/23/66
5.5 lbs is huge. Heck 5.5 lbs is big for a walleye.
THIS IS FROM THE DNR IN MICHIGAN
Smallmouth bass mature at age three or four, and occasionally live to be 10 to 12 years old. The usual smallmouth seen by anglers is 8 to 15 inches long, and weighs less than three pounds.
21″ SM is a good fish in any part of the country, unless you fish Dale Hallow Lake in Ky & Tn. Where there is a 22″ minimum size limit, that lake can drive a person nuts LOL.
Pat yourself on the back that is a nice SM bass.
Good Job
For a smallmouth bass 5.5 pounds is big. Nice bait selection also. Did you catch it in a river?
Good size. Great fight, HUh?
yes that is a nice size fish
I T’s OK .. Do you know how long it took for that smallmouth to get to be 21 in long ? check it out
Thats a big smallie dude. Dont let ayone tell you different. Definatly a trophy sized fish…
That sounds very good!
I can get 1 or 2 a year of that size in the EEL river or Maxinkukee here in Indiana and these bodies of water are super for smallies! So yes you did awsome, great job!
