WHAT IS A REDEYE BASS
WHEN FISHING IN THE MARYLAND RIVER SYSTEM I HAVE BEEN CATCHING AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF SMALL BASS WITH SOME SUNFISH MARKINGS AND RED EYES. THE MAJORITY OF THE FISH WE SEE IN THESE WATERS IS SMALLMOUTH BASS AND SUNFISH (TROUT IN SPRING). THESE REDEYE BASS SEEM TO HANG OUT IN SHALLOW WATERS UNDER SHADE. THEY SEEM TO STAY SMALL AND HANG CLOSLY WITH CROWDS OF SUNFISH. GETTING TO THE POINT, I HAVE A THEORY THAT THESE FISH ARE A HYBRID OF SUNFISH AND SMALLMOUTH BASS. IF ANYONE KNOWS ANY DETAILS TO MY UNUALY COMPLICATED QUESTION PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Theres a difference between a smallmouth bass and a truebass. This Redeye is a Truebass. They have nothing to do with eachother. A large and smallmouth bass are accually the same family as a sunfish, that family is known as a Panfish. A truebass is its own family which the Redeye bass is in.
also known as warmouth, rock bass, as with all black bass,( large members of the sunfish family) the LM and SM bass are much bigger in comparison to the “red eye”, red eyes act more like bluegills and crappie, sticking to shallows.
i believe your talking about the rock bass
